The "2005 report on Chinese women's life quality" was published in Beijing on Feb. 28. As China's first survey report that reflects the life quality of Chinese women from multiple levels and angles, it shows that Harbin females feel the happiest, while female professionals in Beijing have to spend 46 minutes to go to work each day.
Huakun Women's Research Center under All-China Women's Federation launched a questionnaire survey on Chinese women's life quality with a magazine named Women of China at the end of 2005 in order to learn about the quality of urban women's life. This survey covered ten aspects including "working status", "mental and physical health status", "social security", and "marriage and family", targeting mainly professional ladies in eight big cities, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Changsha, Chengdu, Nanning, Harbin and Xi'an. Women in Harbin feel the happiest, with the happiness index averaging 4.20 points. 85.9% of women feel very happy and 14.1% feel moderately happy. Shanghai women are the second happiest with an average index of 4.06 points, and the ratios of women feeling very happy and moderately happy are 81.8% and 18.2%, respectively.
